The Edge of the Cliff

She stood on the edge of the cliff

Knowing her faults would vanish with one slip

One step forward, the ground began to crumble

And she stood on the verge of death

Not knowing if she were her defects

Not knowing if she was her own monster

One step forward, the earth began to diminish

Suddenly, she knew not where the fall would lead her

As her body tumbled through the sky would the rushing wind rip the lies from her

Would her faults drain away just as her life would bleed out

Slowly, placing one foot behind the other

She stepped back

Seeing the uncertainty embedded on the edge of the cliff
